A powerful derecho produced widespread wind damage across the lower Mississippi Valley overnight, with measured gusts exceeding 90 mph in parts of Arkansas and Mississippi. Over 400,000 customers lost power across the region.

The fast-moving line of storms traveled over 500 miles in roughly 8 hours, leaving a swath of destruction including downed trees, damaged buildings, and overturned vehicles. Several injuries were reported but no fatalities have been confirmed.

Utility crews from neighboring states are being mobilized to assist with power restoration, which could take several days in the hardest-hit areas where poles and lines were snapped.
