The Storm Prediction Center has issued an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms across portions of Oklahoma, Kansas, and northern Texas for Tuesday afternoon and evening. A potent upper-level trough combined with strong surface heating and abundant moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will create conditions favorable for large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes.

Storms are expected to initiate along a dryline between 3 and 5 PM CDT, with the most intense activity occurring between 5 and 10 PM. Supercell thunderstorms capable of producing hail up to two inches in diameter and wind gusts exceeding 70 mph are the primary threats.

Emergency management officials in the affected areas are urging residents to review severe weather safety plans and ensure they have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. The outbreak could be the most significant severe weather event of the spring season so far.
