A massive late-season blizzard has buried the Denver metropolitan area under up to 3 feet of snow, closing Denver International Airport and stranding thousands of travelers.

Storm Impact

The blizzard, rated as a Category 4 on the Regional Snowfall Index, brought sustained winds of 50 mph creating zero-visibility whiteout conditions. Over 100,000 homes lost power at the storm's peak.

Travel Chaos

DIA canceled over 2,000 flights and interstate highways I-25 and I-70 remain closed in both directions. Governor Polis has activated the National Guard to assist with rescue operations.
