A powerful EF4 tornado with winds exceeding 175 mph carved a 22-mile path through Oklahoma City's southern suburbs Tuesday evening, destroying hundreds of homes and injuring dozens of residents.

The tornado touched down near Moore at 5:47 PM and tracked northeast through Norman and Midwest City before dissipating near Choctaw. The damage swath was up to one mile wide in places.

Emergency Response

Governor Kevin Stitt declared a state of emergency. FEMA teams are being deployed and the Red Cross has opened 8 emergency shelters. Miraculously, no fatalities have been confirmed.
